Un total de 250 asistentes -entre pequeños agricultores y estudiantes de diversos establecimientos educacionales- participaron de los dos días de campo que organizó el Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias INIA Rayentué en las comunas de La Estrella y Marchigüe, gracias al apoyo de la Fundación para la Innovación Agraria (FIA).
Desplegados en varias estaciones, los investigadores INIA del Secano de la Región de O´Higgins, explicaron a estudiantes y productores diversos alcances de trabajos e investigaciones, como cosechadores de aguas-lluvia, riego tecnificado, ensayos con trigo (triticale), manejo de suelos y mejoramiento genético en ovinos (raza Hidango), todo con foco en el manejo sustentable y la adaptación al cambio climático.
“Este tipo de proyectos nos ayuda a entender cómo enfrentar la crisis climática y conocer cuáles son las mejores condiciones que nos van a dar mejores producciones en nuestra agricultura. La colaboración de FIA con instituciones serias como INIA resulta de vital importancia”, señaló Adriana Bastías, ejecutiva regional de FIA en O’Higgins.
Jorge Carrasco, subdirector de I+D de INIA Rayentué y además director del proyecto señalado, indicó que durante ambas jornadas “hemos estado mostrando los resultados más relevantes de lo que se ha hecho con el manejo de suelo y cultivos, buscando aumentar la eficiencia, entre otras cosas, del uso del agua. Como INIA, hemos estado contribuyendo con las comunas del Secano, incorporando técnicas que a nuestros agricultores les permitan, a través del conocimiento, un mejor manejo de sus producciones”.
“Esta experiencia ha sido superbuena, una aprende cada día cosas nuevas, así que voy a llegar a poner en práctica todo lo que escuché, en especial lo de riego y lo que pudimos entender respecto al manejo de suelo, porque en mi caso tengo greda. Así aprendemos a innovar y crecer con nuestro campito”, señaló la pequeña agricultora Dora Reis, de la comuna de La Estrella.
El proyecto denominado «Desarrollo de soluciones técnicas de manejo sustentable de suelos, agua y cultivos, para enfrentar los efectos del cambio climático de la pequeña agricultura en el área de secano de la Región de O’Higgins», busca ser una vitrina de irradiación de conocimiento, de manera que sean los propios agricultores quienes sean capaces no solo de asimilar el saber, sino que aplicarlo exitosamente en sus predios.
