Autismo Rancagua lleva 12 años reciclando latas de aluminio con el objeto de costear terapias para personas con Trastornos del Espectro Autista (TEA). En 2021, la agrupación firmó un convenio con Gestión de Residuos SPA de mutuo beneficio en el reciclaje de latas. Sin embargo, según la organización que apoya a personas con TEA, a comienzos de 2022 se incumplió tal acuerdo, lo cual le significó a la institución enormes pérdidas que dejan a muchos niñ@s sin sus terapias.

El 1 de marzo de 2021, Gestión de Residuos SPA (GES) y la Agrupación Autismo Rancagua suscribieron un convenio para el reciclaje de latas de bebidas, con el fin de que la primera obtuviera financiamiento parcial para terapias de niños con TEA. Según el convenio, GES tenía la obligación de retirar y vender latas de aluminio desde los siete Cesfam y los 36 colegios municipales de la ciudad y donar lo recaudado cada quincena o cada mes a la cuenta de Fundación Azul. Por su parte, Autismo Rancagua se comprometía a emitir un certificado mensual de impuesto a la donación de las latas y por el dinero donado.
En febrero de 2022, el alcalde Juan Ramón Godoy les anunció que ellos harían el reciclaje, pero que las latas seguirían siendo de Autismo Rancagua. La institución tenía 35 contenedores todos los cuales fueron reemplazados por contenedores de GES. Desde entonces, Autismo Rancagua no volvió a recibir nada por el reciclaje. Normalmente, se recaudaban entre 300 y 400 mil pesos por el reciclaje de los establecimientos educacionales del municipio.
En noviembre de 2022, Carlos Rodríguez de GES en la comisión de Medioambiente de la municipalidad declaró que en 8 meses habían reciclado 500 kilos de latas y que les pagaría 227.000 pesos y que lo haría por voluntad propia, porque no estaba obligado a donarles. La concejal Valentina Cáceres le dijo que había un acuerdo y que se debía respetar, pero Rodríguez se negó, diciendo que él le donaba a quien quería, según lo que nos informó Elizabeth Escobedo, directora de Autismo Rancagua.
Esto significó que Autismo Rancagua perdiera 57 puntos de reciclaje que tomó GES, con lo que la entidad dejó de recibir la mitad de lo que se recaudaba durante el año para terapias, dinero que era destinado a pagar atenciones subsidiadas. Es decir, si una familia no podía pagar 25.000 pesos en una psicóloga, Autismo Rancagua subsidiaba con 15.000 y así esa familia solo pagaba 10 mil.
De acuerdo a la directora de Autismo Rancagua, luego de ocurridos estos hechos, el alcalde Juan Ramón Godoy dijo que él no se hacía cargo de los convenios entre privados, tampoco la Cormun, pese a que fue él mismo quien generó este convenio. Según Escobedo, “Autismo Rancagua comenzó hace 12 años con esta labor de reciclaje de latas para poder pagar las terapias de los niñ@s, porque en esa época no se podía postular a proyectos”. Con posterioridad, la institución comenzó a capacitar a otras instituciones como La Serena, en el sur, para que ellos también aprendieran a reciclar y cubrir las terapias de sus niñ@s.
Según Elizabeth Escobedo, se trata de una situación muy difícil para una institución que financia terapias para quienes no pueden pagarlas. Autismo Rancagua es una organización sin fines de lucro reconocida por su trabajo de reciclaje en diversos programas de televisión como Deja tu huella de TVN, en canal 13 y muchos programas por la labor que desempeñan.
La directiva de Autismo Rancagua informó que la organización gasta un millón doscientos mil pesos por cada niñ@, a quien se le entrega todo tipo de terapias, desde fonoaudiología hasta kinesiología y atienden a 127 niños con TEA. Esto quiere decir que se necesitan más de 150 millones de pesos al año para costear esos gastos. Con el reciclaje, hasta ahora se costeaban las terapias de 27 niñ@s.
El 24 de diciembre de 2022, GES presentó un recurso en contra de Elizabeth Escobedo por haber llamado por redes sociales a no depositar las latas en los contenedores de GES, señalando que con ello se le estaría quitando el derecho a terapia a personas con autismo.
Pese a las dificultades, la institución continúa con su labor a la que se han sumado tres locales nocturnos de la ciudad de Rancagua: el Bar de los Gemelos, Malabar y Socialbar. Estos pubs firmaron un contrato y se sumaron a la causa de reciclaje de latas que permite financiar las terapias de muchos niñ@s TEA de la región.

Nos quitaron puntos ya formados y que la gente de la VI region ya sabia que esas latas eran en beneficio de las terapias de los niños y Jovenes de Autismo Rancagua. Demandan a nuestra Presidenta Elizabet Escobedo por peliar lo que es nuestro, Jamas hemos tenido miedo al Trabajo hemos sacado latas hasta de contenedores de llenos de basura para juntar recursos para nuestros hijos. Este famoso Reciclador junto al Alcalde se burlaron se nuestros hijos y su demanda no es solo con Elizabet es con 120 familias luchando por la misma causa.
Lamentablemente los compromisos realizados con el señor alcalde de la comuna de Rancagua han quedado roto, lo peor es que con ello nuestros niños se ven seriamente perjudicados, pues el reciclaje servía para cancelar las terapias que son tan caras y difícil de costear sobretodo en estos momentos
Esperanos que el alcalde recapacite, que si tiene alguna rencilla con nuestra presidencia tenga claro que no puede perjudicar a nuestra institución. Por lo demás la señora Elizabeth Escobedo lo único que ha echo es que se cumplan los compromisos realizados a principios de año.
Así como el alcalde salió en la tele en el programa aquí somos todos, doblando el.aporte a nuestra organización, esperamos de todo corazón ocurra lo mismo este año 2023
Es una pena lo que el edil de Rancagua se haga el desentendido con lo sucedido.
