Los últimos informes del Panel Intergubernamental en Cambio Climático IPCC sobre Calentamiento Global son contundentes: el cambio climático es responsabilidad de los seres humanos, es irreversible y está generando cada vez más desastres naturales y volviéndose más destructivos.
Se espera que en las próximas décadas se pierdan importantes especies y ecosistemas naturales que aún subsisten. En tanto, la sequía aumenta en el norte y centro de Chile, incrementan los riesgos de incendios, la pérdida de suelos debido a la erosión. (Calentamiento global de 1,5°C. IPCC, 2019).
Según el Instituto de Resiliencia de Estocolmo, 5 de los 9 “límites planetarios” están sobrepasados, lo que indicaría la inminente sexta gran extinción planetaria. Por tal razón, cada vez más personas deciden prepararse para un escenario de colapso, donde la adaptación es clave para la resiliencia de las comunidades. (Planetary boundaries. Un llamado a la acción
En este contexto de incertidumbre es indispensable establecer hábitats que aseguren la protección y regeneración de la naturaleza y el sustento que nos proporciona: alimento, semillas, agua y otros bienes esenciales para la vida y el buen vivir.
Técnicas como la agroecología, sintropía, agricultura regenerativa, bioconstrucción, ecotecnologías y otras, se interconectan en lo que podría denominarse diseño sistémico del autosustento.
Esto aplica la permacultura, siguiendo patrones de la naturaleza, buscando ampliar las funciones ecosistémicas y equilibrar las interacciones entre seres vivos. Entre los beneficios de estas prácticas está la restauración de los suelos y los ciclos hídricos, junto con sus biodiversidades.
La respuesta a la crisis está en la naturaleza, en el respeto de sus ciclos, ecosistemas y derechos.
“Ya no hay tiempo para esperar medidas de gobiernos o empresas, la permacultura es un llamado a la acción, somos nosotras mismas quienes tenemos la responsabilidad de pensar y sobre todo actuar para, quizá, tener una mejor calidad de vida, disposición de agua, alimento y semilla para cuando el colapso climático llegue. Por esto, nos preparamos protegiendo y regenerando la naturaleza, por ella y nuestra descendencia”.

Urge preservar la calidad nutricional, sanidad y biodiversidad de los suelos ya que se prevé que el 2050 la población mundial habrá aumentado a eso de 9.700 millones de personas, y el planeta habrá perdido una considerable cantidad de suelos cultivables. Es aún un desafío asegurar la disponibilidad de alimentos y transitar hacia cultivos ecológicamente responsables, más orgánicos y libres de transgénicos y trazas químicas que puedan resultar tóxicas.

Por estas razones es que Fundación Suelo y la Escuela de Permacultura Aplicada de Chile EPAC han preparado estos últimos años a permacultor@s de diversos territorios de Chile y del extranjero; entregando certificaciones, cursos, webinars y talleres.
Julio Pérez es un permacultor Chileno en Noruega, parte de la red internacional de arquitectos GAIA y guía de la próxima versión del Curso Certificado de Diseño en Permacultura (CDP) de enero del 2023, que se realizará presencialmente en Chile y en Noruega.
El CDP es un intensivo de 80 horas, que esta vez se presenta en modalidad híbrida con clases on line y presencial en un retiro vivencial donde conoceremos la aplicación de la metodología de diseño.
