En Alta Mar es un encuentro de danza contemporánea que reunió a 15 países en una acción conjunta de 24 horas seguidas, a través de medios digitales que se realizó el pasado 19 y 20 de marzo y que se pudo ver online por diversas plataformas. Es un proyecto colaborativo, dirigido por la destacada bailarina y coreógrafa Irene Martínez Ríos, quien tiene una extensa trayectoria profesional junto a destacados artistas, entre ellos la mítica coreógrafa Pina Bausch.
En Alta Mar, representa ese espacio marino de libertad, único lugar del mundo que no pertenece a ninguna nación, que presenta grandes retos y riesgos, donde la energía de la naturaleza fluye en toda su grandeza. El propósito de este encuentro es interactuar, compartir, conocer más sobre la danza contemporánea, fortalecer la comunidad internacional, estrechar lazos entre la gente proveniente de distintas realidades y reflexionar en torno al papel de los diversos lenguajes del cuerpo en el futuro inmediato.

Se presentaron piezas de danza, exploraciones performáticas, propuestas multidisciplinarias, video- danzas, danza en video, testimonios de vida, charlas, conferencias y clases magistrales.
Camilo Arenas, director del Festival Encuentro Danza Pichilemu, co-organizador de este encuentro invitó a Pichilemu a ser anfitrión y telón de fondo de una muestra de diversas actividades y presentaciones y representar así, desde nuestra región, la participación de Chile con transmisión en vivo vía streaming, en una producción realizada en conjunto con Territoria Cultural, Atahualpa Factoría, Filmar y en colaboración con Club Social Los Piures, Centro Origen, Carola Azocar producciones y Fundación Punta de Lobos.
La programación, que presentó Chile, comenzó con un video danza llamado “Cielo y Duna”, realizado en la playa de Punta de Lobos para conectar desde el mar con toda esta gran red en torno a la paz mundial. Luego, se realizó un taller de exploración para niñas y niños en Centro Origen. Por la tarde, Pichilemu volvió a conectarse a esta transmisión internacional desde el club social Los Piures, que abrió sus puertas a la comunidad, donde se presentaron una selección de videos de danza contemporánea, una performance en vivo de la compañía Movimiento Continuo, que viajó desde Valparaíso especialmente para la ocasión. Finalmente, se realizó una obra interactiva donde el público pudo experimentar y responder, a través de su propio movimiento, la pregunta: ¿qué es la danza contemporánea? De esta manera, nuestro país se hizo parte de esta gran cruzada por la paz, uniéndose a la comunidad internacional que vibró desde la danza en un rezo por acallar el dolor de la violencia que hoy vive el mundo.
EL Regionalista conversó con Camilo Arenas, bailarín y coreógrafo pichilemino, quien vive hace más de 20 años en Francia y que está en Pichilemu, preparando una nueva versión del Festival de Danza de Pichilemu sobre esta experiencia, y la relevancia de instalar la danza contemporánea desde territorios como Pichilemu.
¿Cómo surgió la posibilidad de participar de este encuentro?
Nació gracias a que Irene Martinez, una coreógrafa mexicana de gran trayectoria que trabajó por muchos años con Pina Bausch, siendo parte de la compañía Wuppertal con su gran labor comunitaria, a través de la danza, se contactó conmigo porque conoció sobre el Festival de Danza Contemporánea Pichilemu 2021, un encuentro virtual de gran calidad y que obtuvo muchos elogios de la comunidad de danza internacional, que ella observó como espectadora, y quedó con una gran impresión del resultado profesional que obtuvimos. Es así como se contactó conmigo y me invitó para que fuera parte del equipo de coordinación de este encuentro junto a una coreógrafa brasilera, lo que me sorprendió mucho, ya que ella es una persona con mucho talento, muy reconocida internacionalmente y para mí es un honor, porque es admirable su trabajo y estoy seguro que este será el principio de una gran colaboración para el futuro. En Pichilemu, sumamos a colaboradores con quienes generamos un trabajo de alta calidad como Filmmar, Territoria Cultural y Atahualpa Factoría, con quienes pudimos generar un resultado del cual nos podemos sentir orgullosos; desde Pichilemu pudimos ser protagonistas de esta gran experiencia.
¿Cómo fue para ti esta experiencia?
Fue muy enriquecedor, de gran aprendizaje, un desafío que me permitió seguir desarrollando en Pichilemu la danza contemporánea, que tiene una complejidad muy rica y que aún estamos lejos de que el público pueda aprovechar, acceder y entender. Es un trabajo lento que implica mucha tenacidad. Estar a la cabeza de este gran equipo me puso a prueba en muchos sentidos. Una de las cosas que más pude desarrollar fue la fuerza de la convicción y de la humildad, son fuerzas telúricas profundas que nos hacen mirar la vida, proyectos y cada relación humana con un prisma que es revelador de aspectos que sin la humildad no alcanzamos a ver. Yo tengo un temperamento bastante fuerte, de fuego y fue un aprendizaje lograr cocinar a fuego lento, poco a poco, para obtener un gran resultado: aprender a ver cuál es la temperatura correcta, de esta manera avanzar, escuchar y entender por dónde va el camino y no perder el control.
¿Qué impresión tienes de la danza contemporánea nacional?
Vivo en Francia hace más de 20 años, he hecho un largo viaje por Latinoamérica, he recorrido muchos países europeos también, creo que la danza contemporánea tiene un desarrollo muy interesante que tiene una historia, tal como en la historia del arte. En la danza, también existen esos parámetros, esas filiaciones, y en Chile se desarrolla una disciplina bastante intuitiva, un poco sin padre ni madre, porque siento que hay una falta de información, de filiación. En ese sentido, hay toda una temática a desarrollar en conjunto con otras artes, porque la danza contemporánea es muy rica y en ella confluyen muchas disciplinas diferentes, como el cine, la arquitectura, ciencias cognitivas, psicomotoras, etc. A partir de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, sobresalen grandes exponentes como Pina Bausch, Merce Cunningham, que abren la danza a diversas experiencias de gran complejidad, relacionadas a la historia del teatro también, y siento que en Chile hace falta el eco del pasado para avanzar hacia el futuro. Hay un falso concepto de vivir el presente, pareciera que acá no es necesario reconocer las raíces, creo que en eso estamos un poco atrasados. Un proyecto como el que acabamos de realizar también apunta hacia allá: abrir la danza a niños, al adulto mayor, a las capacidades diferentes, hacer referencia al trabajo histórico. Hace falta proyectarnos a través de este tipo de eventos para ir educando, contribuyendo y acercando más sobre la riqueza de la danza contemporánea.
¿Por qué te ha interesado traer estas temáticas a Pichilemu?
Pichilemu tiene un gran potencial, en este hermoso pedazo de tierra frente al mar hay una energía muy rica de sal, de arena, de geología, donde se han desarrollado personas muy simples, que fueron los originarios de este territorio, de los cuales hay una simpleza que queda plasmada en una belleza natural. Son parte del patrimonio natural, las personas de la sal, algueras y algueros, gente de campo, etc., que corren el riesgo de desaparecer con el impacto de todas las personas que están instalando sus casas y cerrando las playas con un cerco. Yo tengo un legado familiar en esta tierra, soy muy crítico y es por eso que me plantee qué es lo que puedo hacer yo para resguardar este patrimonio, qué puedo rescatar y siento que, con el festival que he realizado en Pichilemu, puedo defender un patrimonio a través del arte, de la poesía, que a través del cuerpo se puede gestar. Además, hay una serie de estrategias y contribuciones que son muy importantes en nuestra región, que es aportar a una mayor culturización, me siento responsable de traer cuestionamientos y alumbrar algunas interrogantes sobre el futuro que queremos tener, aportar por un país mejor.
¿Cuáles son tus proyecciones como creador y director del Festival de Danza Pichilemu?
En primer lugar, no bajar los brazos, tenemos un sistema de selección para ganar subvenciones que es muy burocrático, elitista y desigual que no se interesa realmente por la acción de artistas y gestores culturales, que espero que cambie con nuestro presidente Boric, por quien estuve haciendo campaña. Hice mi pequeña contribución como apoderado de mesa, me vine con mucha convicción, especialmente para aportar, para sufragar y cumplir con mi derecho ciudadano. Para realizar este tipo de proyectos hay un esfuerzo de muchas personas, son meses de trabajo que no son pagados y, luego, uno no obtiene la ayuda de políticos, politiqueras y politiqueros que no cumplen con lo que han prometido, ante lo cual cualquier persona normal diría no sigo con esto, pero yo no soy así; continúo trabajando frente a la adversidad para conseguir las cosas que hay que luchar, por las cosas que uno estima que son necesarias para el desarrollo personal y de la sociedad en la que uno vive. En lo particular, continuar frente a la adversidad y esperar que prontamente este proyecto tan relevante sea tomado en serio por las autoridades correspondientes para poder darle continuidad, y así aportar en el desarrollo descentralizado de la danza contemporánea en Chile.
