Do the Evolution
El ying y el yang, el orden y el caos. Dos movimientos de energía antagónicos y complementarios entre sí. Una historia que se repite como las cuatro estaciones o los ciclos de la luna indicándonos que, en realidad, el tiempo no avanza hacia ningún lado más que en la conciencia y su utopía del progreso. Y desde que nos auto percibimos como sapiens o seres pensantes, la tecnología ha jugado un rol fundamental como parte sustancial de nuestra propia creación: producimos y somos reproducidos a través de la tecnología. Y el tiempo, aquella variable que fluye en la relatividad, es a la vez nuestro más sólido límite y frontera.
En algún punto, el sapiens sintiente controló al fuego y luego el fuego lo controló a él. Incapaz de observar la totalidad del mundo, cada ser humano tomó por conciencia los límites visibles a la percepción de sus sentidos, hasta que la globalización, el desarrollo de la biotecnología y la informática, engendraron una criatura nueva: el ente digital.
Y al igual que sucede con nuestro control de la electricidad, los vehículos y la estratósfera, la tecnología digital ofrece oportunidades y amenazas y tiene dos caras: una alienante, si se es inconsciente del impacto que produce en nosotros mismos y en quienes están a nuestro alrededor, o un camino hacia el equilibrio. Nuevamente, el libre albedrío en la mano, requiere de más información y educación para su uso.

Transformación digital como vibración alienante
La alienación, es un fenómeno social que vivimos de manera colectiva: es el estar sujetos irreflexivamente al modelo de desarrollo vigente. Se ancla en las rutinas cotidianas, la predisposición de nuestra conducta, la organización del trabajo, nuestros desplazamientos y los contextos donde transcurre la vida. En suma, al calendario gregoriano.
Alienación, viene del latín alienare que significa ser un otro distinto de mí o ajeno. “El concepto de alienación (ocurre) cuando los individuos se identifican con la existencia que les es impuesta y en la cual encuentran su propio desarrollo y satisfacción”. Esta singular frase que pareciera tener eco en los tiempos contemporáneos, en realidad pertenece al sociólogo y filósofo alemán, Herbet Marcuse, quien en la década de 1960 se destacó por sus aportes al análisis del “hombre unidimensional”, esto es, la lógica y la crítica al comportamiento humano que ajusta su vida a las necesidades del sistema y no lo usa para su beneficio.
En la vida cotidiana, un buen ejemplo lo escuché de Gabriela, mi amiga ancestral de Chiloé, con quien surgió esa conversación espontánea en un café virtual que juega a darle algo de sentido lógico al mundo actual. Citando la frase “construimos nuestro propio infierno, y luego culpamos a los demás” de Bukowski, comenta que no pocos turistas nacionales no logran disfrutar el presente sin desconectarse de la vida urbana. Ve en los grupos una tensión por satisfacer todos los momentos individuales, dibujados en la ansiedad por compartir todo. “No hemos aprendido a disfrutar los momentos de ocio y las vacaciones parecen ser pocos días siempre, hacen las cosas como apurados’‘, se lamenta.
El descanso vacacional, por el contrario, viene a provocar un corto circuito en la percepción del tiempo mental, irrumpiendo con episodios ansiosos por la llegada a los destinos y aprovechar al máximo los momentos. Esta pulsión también muestra una cara positiva y compasiva de las personas consigo mismas: es la necesidad interna por liberarse de la máquina y sus sistemas de control social. No obstante, la rutina patológica instalada con el uso del celular irrumpe en las relaciones internas de los grupos de turistas. Y se entiende: compiten los estímulos del paisaje medioambiental con los estímulos de la tecnología digital.

Transformación digital en la búsqueda del equilibrio
La revolución 4.0 ha impactado en todos los sistemas humanos. “La revolución actual es de datos e inteligencia artificial y su principal característica, es que (nuevos datos) se producen en períodos muy breves de tiempo” aseguró Yolanda Olivares, quien compartió sus impresiones en un podcast de El Regionalista el lunes recién pasado. Fuimos incorporando el uso de las tecnologías digitales a nuestra vida cotidiana sin darnos cuenta, nos dijo, sin percibir el impacto creado en las relaciones sociales y las personas. Esta condición no es nueva. Por el contrario, ha sido un recurso clave en los procesos de modernización de las sociedades. “La tecnología no es buena o mala en sí misma sino más bien una herramienta y como tal, depende de la mano con que se usa”, puntualizó.
El mundo digital ha permitido reinventarse bajo nuevos negocios y emprendimientos on line, en un momento histórico en el que la economía global y las políticas públicas no siempre juegan con legitimidad y validez. Claro, desde el punto cero como inicio siempre existen fallas. Pero la inteligencia artificial tiene la capacidad de aprender y mejorar en aquellas áreas de desarrollo humano repletas de burocracia y bucles infinitos. Hay avances significativos en telemedicina y cientos de trámites administrativos hoy se reducen en configuraciones de bases de datos que hicieron su contribución en la cuarentena.
Para encontrar un punto de equilibrio en el mundo digital, asumiéndolo como herramienta, el modo cómo nos vinculamos a ella, puede ofrecernos alternativas de desarrollo o diversos tipos de trastornos. Parafraseando aquella cita de Herbet Marcuse que se hiciera famosa en la revolución de mayo de 1968, necesitamos nuevas estructuras mentales al servicio del ser humano y no éste al servicio de ellas. Debemos educar en la lógica de que los grandes negocios organizan sus procesos productivos en base al uso de nuestros datos, exponiendo a las personas a transformarse en un objeto o un producto de sí mismo.
En esta revolución industrial 4.0 las personas necesitarán mapas conceptuales en sus mentes que les permitan discernir no solo el universo de datos e información disponible, sino también cómo aparece la visualización de temas importantes.
La nueva educación deberá incorporar en sus planes de estudio, una importante actualización de sus bases teóricas y metodológicas. Hoy existen youtubers que son capaces de simplificar grandes torturas, como por ejemplo cálculo para los malos en matemáticas o análisis literario para quienes tienen dificultades para leer.
Lo que las personas deben saber es que los algoritmos en la tecnología digital operan bajo la lógica de satisfacer nuestros más profundos deseos. Es por ello que la relación entre el consumo de contenido y el tiempo que pasamos online, tiene como resultado una derivada clave para descifrar si lo que hacemos con ella, en realidad puede ser un aporte o un daño. La elección, curiosamente, está al alcance de la mano, pero sin interacción, nos transformaremos en observadores y consumidores pasivos y, por supuesto, a merced de potenciar aquellas debilidades que terminan en aislamiento y alienación.
Finalmente, la diversidad infinita de intereses y necesidades personales actuará como una integral que creará hipersegmentación social digital, con derivadas como el reencontrarnos, tal vez, en aquellas gustos y deseos internos que nos hacen sentido, al estar habitando por un tiempo en este mundo y cuyo mayor propósito será buscar espacios de libertad y desde allí construir un nuevo orden social.
