La Agrupación Autismo Rancagua y la Fundación Inclusión Azul convocaron este sábado 2 de diciembre a las 10 AM en la casa de la Agrupación Autismo Rancagua, en Adelaida Calvo 95 de la capital regional, a marchar a la Plaza de los Héroes por la inclusión y bienestar de personas afectadas por alguna discapacidad.
Este sábado 2, la marcha rancagüina que se sumará a la conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Discapacidad, tendrá ingredientes gratos y otros que aún dejan mal sabor para quienes adhieren a la causa del autismo.
Los manifestantes celebrarán la promulgación de la ley de Autismo, el pasado abril, y la visibilización que dio a esta realidad. Pero las personas que sufren autismo y sus familiares también reivindican cosas que para el resto de la población son difíciles de ver y cuya obtención, para ellos, es un desafío mayor. Por ejemplo, educación y salud de calidad, veredas y medios de transporte con rampas para personas con sillas de ruedas, documentación y señalización en sistema braille para ciegos.
Pero también piden comunicación alternativa aumentativa para personas con hipoacusia y para todas las personas que no se pueden comunicar de manera verbal y ayudas técnicas “por las que no se tenga que mendigar durante años”, señala una de las convocantes a esta marcha, Elizabeth Escobedo, presidenta de Autismo Rancagua.
La crítica de las organizaciones de autismo es que la normativa aprobada no ha pasado del papel a la realidad, lo que se ha manifestado en casos de adultos autistas que esperan meses por horas de atención neurológica en el Hospital Regional, así como niños esperando audífonos durante años. También denuncian que en el sistema educativo se mantiene la exigencia de medicamentar a los niños y niñas para asistir a clases, medicación que más tarde en la adultez les trae graves alteraciones.
La situación del autismo podría experimentar también un avance de la mano de la nueva ley. Esto, puesto que, aunque se conoce la población con algún grado de discapacidad, la encuesta que se aplica para registrar a las personas discapacitadas no considera el dato del autismo. Gracias a la ley, en el futuro, la encuesta sí registrará a las personas que viven esta situación.
La marcha se realizará con el lema “Un Mundo para Todos” en conmemoración del día Internacional de la Discapacidad, que se celebra cada 3 de diciembre desde 1992, cuando fue proclamado por la Asamblea General de las Naciones para fomentar la integración de la población discapacitada a la sociedad.
