AGRICULTORES DEL VALLE DE AZAPA SE CAPACITAN EN USO ADECUADO DE PULVERIZADORES AGRÍCOLAS
La actividad, organizada por Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA), tuvo como foco entregar una visión amplia sobre el panorama alimentario en Chile con foco en la agricultura familiar campesina.

El pasado lunes 21 de noviembre de 2022, agricultores y asesores del cultivo tomate del valle de Azapa (Región de Arica y Parinacota), se capacitaron en temas de uso adecuado de plaguicidas, a través de la dosificación y el correcto uso de pulverizadores agrícolas.
La iniciativa fue parte de un trabajo conjunto entre INIA Rayentué y la empresa Koppert, encargados de la capacitación y la convocatoria, respectivamente.
Las charlas fueron desarrolladas en 5 predios productivos de tomate y pimentón, en la cual asistieron los dueños, personal encargado de dosificación y aplicadores de plaguicidas. En cada uno de los huertos se transfirieron conceptos de: volumen de aplicación en relación al volumen de vegetación; dosificación por superficie de cultivo; calidad del agua para la mezcla con agroquímicos y la correcta regulación de pulverizadores, a través del caudal de boquillas, velocidad de avance y ancho de aplicación. Finalmente, se ejemplificó que las pulverizaciones pueden ser corroboradas en el terreno a través del uso de papeles hidrosensibles, midiendo el cubrimiento de las gotas en las distintas estratas del cultivo.
La labor de control de plagas y enfermedades en cultivos agrícolas sigue siendo una tarea con grandes brechas; las deficiencias pueden generar pérdidas sobre el 50% del volumen pulverizado, e igual porcentaje de ineficacia en el control. Las distancias entre hileras y el gran follaje de tomates bajo invernadero, permite que las técnicas de pulverización hidráulica (usadas actualmente) presenten serios problemas de cubrimiento en la parte interna de las plantas, generando problemas de daño por insectos y hongos. Por lo anterior, es necesario adaptar otras técnicas de pulverización para este tipo de cultivos, como, por ejemplo, la hidroneumática.
