Francisca Skoknic se definió como una periodista de transición, no sólo respecto del paso de la dictadura a la democracia, sino de la máquina de escribir a las nuevas tecnologías y al periodismo digital. “Quedarse atrás no es una opción”, señaló al referirse a la transformación necesaria de los medios de comunicación y del trabajo periodístico.
Habló también del difícil momento de los medios de comunicación y alertó de la precarización del trabajo periodístico, y de las tremendas luchas que realiza el periodismo independiente. “Estamos frente a un ecosistema de medios debilitado”, indicó.
La presentación de Skoknic estuvo a cargo de Mónica González, Premio Nacional de Periodismo 2019 y también Premio Lenka Franulic 2016, quien recordó los inicios del trabajo de Francisca como periodista y tuvo emotivas palabras para referirse a ella, destacando su profesionalismo, compromiso y pasión por el periodismo.
La ministra secretaria general de Gobierno, Camila Vallejo, señaló que desde Lenka Franulic en adelante, han existido numerosas periodistas que han abierto camino, irrumpiendo en un mundo masculinizado. Dijo que el gobierno del presidente Gabriel Boric espera avanzar hacia más justicia social y que, en tal contexto, instan a que el periodismo y las informaciones tengan un enfoque de género y de derechos humanos. Señaló que la sociedad chilena está en deuda con aquellos profesionales que han sido víctimas, no sólo durante su trabajo en las manifestaciones, sino también dentro de sus espacios laborales.
Sobre el trabajo de Skoknic, la ministra Vallejo indicó con ello ha demostrado cuán importante es el periodismo de investigación como instrumento, para producir cambios en la sociedad y lo esencial que resulta combatir la desinformación, entregando contenidos más profundos, que expliquen el contexto de los hechos y los procesos.
El jurado que dirimió el Premio Lenka Franulic 2021, estuvo integrado por los directores de las escuelas de periodismo de la Universidad de Chile, la Universidad Católica y la Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Ascanio Cavallo, Premio Nacional de Periodismo 2021, Daniela Pizarro, presidenta del Regional Metropolitana del Colegio de Periodistas, Delia Vergara, premio Lenka Franulic 2020 y la presidenta de la ANMPE, Verónica López.
