La Canasta Campesina, cooperativismo para mujeres rurales en Pichilemu

La Canasta Campesina es más que una cooperativa: es un punto de reunión y conversación en el que las mujeres se conocen y superan las distancias que las hacen “ir guardando en los rincones la necesidad y los dolores que guardamos y cuando vamos conversando, nos damos cuenta que tenemos los mismos problemas, que tenemos las mismas dolencias, una historia en común”.

La Canasta Campesina se ha transformado en un punto imperdible en Pichilemu, un espacio colaborativo para promover los oficios y productos de mujeres campesinas de la zona, que también es un espacio cultural con programación constante de actividades en torno al folclore, tradiciones campesinas y creaciones de mujeres. Es, además, un punto de encuentro clave de agrupaciones feministas como las Bordadoras de Pichilemu y Mujeres Libres Pichilemu, que han estado tejiendo ideas para este 8M. Está ubicada en la calle Ángel Gaete 591, donde comparte una antigua casona con Cedesus (Centro de Desarrollo Sustentable de Pichilemu) y el Canal PichilemuTV.org.

Ingrid Vasquez, Catalina Cornejo y Vicky Acosta llevan las riendas de esta cooperativa. Conversamos con Ingrid para conocer su experiencia y mirada sobre el rol de las mujeres en el campo, entre otros temas.

¿Cómo nació la idea de hacer esta cooperativa?

Con Cedesus estábamos trabajando con varios proyectos, teníamos la dificultad que no podíamos facturar para generar algunos proyectos o algunas ventas de los servicios que ya estamos desarrollando. Además, nos empezamos a vincular mucho con la gente de las áreas rurales y nos dimos cuenta de las problemáticas que ellos tenían para poder vender sus productos.

Buscamos una forma que nos acomodara y que también fuera acorde a los ideales que nosotros teníamos, porque construir una empresa en un día es súper fácil, pero era otro el sentido que nosotros le queríamos dar a este trabajo y como nuestro equipo tiene una gran diversidad de profesiones, de intereses y de formas de ser, teníamos que buscar la posibilidad de algo que nos agrupara y permitiera que cada uno en su ámbito y en su interés pudiera empezar a comercializar formalizadamente lo que quisiera. En Cedesus está el área de investigación, el área de Educación, la sustentabilidad, el trabajo con los biofiltros y un montón de otras oportunidades de generar cambios en el secano costero en la forma de resolver la vida cotidiana, y también estaba este otro ámbito, conocíamos a los emprendedores, a los artesanos, productores que no tenían un lugar donde comercializar. Entonces primero nos formalizamos como cooperativa, hicimos todo el trámite hace más de 2 años, al principio no tuvimos mucho rodaje, nos costó un poco y lo primero que hicimos fue presentar un proyecto que nos ayudó a dar el puntapié inicial. Finalmente, dentro de la cooperativa la instalación de los biofiltros y la Canasta Campesina han sido los ejes más potentes que ya están funcionando y que se han posicionado.

¿Cuál es el equipo que conforma la Canasta Campesina y como se han integrado las mujeres campesinas en este proyecto?

Cata Cornejo y yo somos socias de la cooperativa, Vicky es parte del equipo de trabajo, entre las tres se ha generado un equipo súper potente, muy colaborador, que era justamente lo que estábamos buscando. La manera de trabajar con las mujeres también es colaborativa, porque si bien no son parte de la organización propiamente tal, sí son parte de la Canasta Campesina. El 90% de los productos que hay aquí nos los ha entregado la gente del campo a consignación. Hay un lazo netamente de confianza y cariño, de buscar emprender y ser solidarias. La mayoría de las personas que están exponiendo sus trabajos en la Canasta son mujeres.

¿Cuál es la principal problemática a la que se enfrentan las mujeres de zonas rurales?

Una de las principales problemáticas que yo veo en este momento es la precariedad que se genera a partir de la necesidad del agua, porque casi todas las mujeres o familias que son parte de la Canasta Campesina tenían una huerta familiar donde podían abastecerse, porque la mayoría está muy lejos, cuando hablamos de Espinillo o del Maqui no hay vecinos, no es un vecindario, están lejos, entonces todas estas mujeres han resistido con una huerta que les ha permitido subsistir, porque si no, serían totalmente dependientes de Pichilemu y de tener que ir a compra. En esta labor de resistencia han logrado mantener semillas, una tradición, y a sus familias, y hoy día con la falta de agua se les está secando la huerta y se les está precarizando la vida. Es muy difícil tener una zanahoria si no la vas a tener plantada, no vas a viajar por una zanahoria de 150 pesos, pero si no la tienes te cambia tu forma de cocinar, te cambia tu vida, te cambia el alimento que llega a tu mesa, la vitamina de color naranjo. Entonces todo es transversal al tema del agua.

Otra gran problemática son las exigencias que genera el sistema de formalización para la venta de la producción de las mujeres, porque son producciones a pequeña escala. Entonces, por ejemplo, si una persona tiene una higuera, recoge los higos, los seca y hace un café y de esa temporada se logra sacar 3 o 4 kilos. Tener que hacer iniciación de actividades y entrar al sistema, lograr cumplir con los requisitos que te piden es completamente drástico con esta forma de vida y con el nivel de producción que ellas puedan tener. Además, las sanciones son muy duras y al final es muy fácil que esos 3, 4 kilos de café se transformen en una multa de 6 veces lo que podían ganar, porque el sistema es muy complejo y exigente para esa realidad. Entonces, esa rigidez que tiene el sistema con las personas de las áreas rurales que tienen ese nivel de producción es una brecha muy grande que aún no se ha podido subsanar.

¿Cómo aplica el cooperativismo la Canasta Campesina, cómo han generado la red de mujeres campesinas con la que trabajan?

Nosotras como Canasta estamos al alero del Cedesus y ellos llevan muchos años trabajando en el territorio; a través de proyectos y del interés de buscar esta riqueza de la zona, han ido conociendo a la gente. Yo llegué hace 4 años y ha sido un trabajo muy fácil porque ya estaban abiertas las puertas de todas las casas de los lugares más alejados que tu puedas pensar, eso es el reflejo de un trabajo de muchos años de generar lazos de confianza, mucho cariño y respeto con la gente del Cedesus; Cadudzzi Salas, Vilma Leiva y muchas otras personas que han realizado un trabajo positivo, así que para nosotras ha sido fácil abrir esos canales que se habían generado para llegar a la gente. Pero también pasa que una localidad está tan alejada de la otra que no tienen nada que ver, entonces cada vez que vas a un lugar es abrir un espacio completamente nuevo, en algunos lugares se puede generar comunidad donde puedes llamar y decir que vas tal día y en la junta de vecinos te están esperando un montón de personas que te quieren mostrar sus cosas o con las que podemos hacer actividades. En otros lugares, las personas están tan alejadas que tenemos que ir hasta ellos, entonces ahí se vuelve más difícil, pero aún así, la gente es super resiliente y aunque sea difícil va a las actividades de juntas de vecinos, de adulto mayor, o de emprendedores. Siempre hay algo que los puede unir pero no es fácil encontrar esos espacios, es otra brecha importante la lejanía y la dificultad de movilidad.

¿Cómo ha sido hasta ahora la experiencia, como los ha recibido la comunidad como espacio cultural?

Ha sido súper fácil y no tiene que ver solamente con la parte económica sino cómo uno llega a la comunidad, cuando tú le empiezas a explicar a la gente que es una cooperativa inmediatamente hay otra visión de lo que tú estás haciendo, porque las cooperativas tienen una función social, además de ser una agrupación sin fines de lucro que trabaja con relaciones horizontales donde no hay una jerarquía. Eso es súper bien recibido, más aún cuando empezamos a explicar que nuestra función es poder visibilizar el trabajo de las productoras, de los artesanos y artesanas de las zonas rurales de Pichilemu, la gente se asombra harto.

¿Qué significa para ustedes que este sea un punto de articulación del movimiento feminista en Pichilemu?

Bueno, para nosotras es un honor poder recibir y abrir el espacio a todas las mujeres por diversas que seamos, por pensamientos diferentes que tengamos, y que nos reunamos para fortalecer esos lazos, porque finalmente vamos todas en un mismo camino. Nosotras esperamos que con el trabajo que realizamos podamos generar un cambio en la calidad de vida de las mujeres que están muy lejos y no pueden acceder acá, pero también hay otras mujeres que tienen una necesidad de agruparse, de hablar de los problemas y de las necesidades y también de gritar las ideas. Entonces, creo que es necesario tener espacios para que nos podamos juntar, conversar, para que nos podamos conocer, porque esta misma distancia va guardando en los rincones la necesidad y los dolores que guardamos las mujeres y cuando vamos conversando, nos vamos dando cuenta que tenemos los mismos problemas, que tenemos las mismas dolencias, una historia en común que tiene que ver con nuestro país y nuestra Latinoamérica que ha sido tan vulnerable. Que puedan llegar mujeres de otros lugares y abrir el espacio y conocer más gente para nosotros es un desafío, es una tarea y un honor porque lo necesitamos. La mayoría de las personas que estamos aquí somos mujeres y los hombres que están aquí son hermanos, parejas, hijos de mujeres, así que es una forma de poder cambiar cómo visibilizamos el territorio. Porque cuando hablas del campo y de la Sexta Región, inmediatamente se te paran los pelos porque es el símbolo del patriarcado y del machismo, son localidades que tienen ese arraigo. Pero hoy día son las mujeres las que están levantando los hogares, las que están manteniendo las huertas, las que están generando trabajo, las que son madres, hermanas y parejas, las que están siendo cabeceras de este movimiento no solo a nivel de una marcha del 8 de marzo, sino que en sus casas, en sus localidades, entonces es importante saber que no somos las únicas y eso es muy poderoso.

¿Cuáles son los pasos a seguir? En el contexto actual, qué es lo que se viene? La Canasta Campesina es un espacio, un ideal, un sentimiento, tal vez no vamos a poder seguir en este lugar y nos vamos a tener que cambiar, pero donde estemos seguiremos trabajando. Además, hay un Plan Regional de Desarrollo Rural que está en proceso de gestión y nosotras estamos participando como representantes de la sociedad civil en el ámbito del desarrollo y de las oportunidades económicas, justamente para poder hacer visible que el sistema económico, que la ley, ponen un pie encima en la producción y en la forma de vida de las pequeñas productoras. Y eso ocurre en todos los territorios, como ocurre en nuestra región, en Chiloé y en Puerto Montt o en las pequeñas localidades rurales cercanas a las ciudades grandes les pasa lo mismo, a la señora que tiene ajo chilote o productores mapuches en Cunco que tienen merquén, les pasa lo mismo, estamos haciendo visible que ese sistema genera un cambio en la forma de las relaciones humanas en ese espacio y limita el desarrollo de esas personas y la brecha se va volviendo más grande. Esperamos con este proyecto que el sistema genere el menor impacto negativo posible en la forma de vida campesina.
