La violencia social, que nos sacude con mucha mayor fuerza desde octubre de 2019, ha dejado su impronta no solo en las carreteras con autos locos, aumento de la delincuencia y la violencia, sino también que esta se ha trasladado a la institución escolar, y se manifiesta con apoderados más agresivos y estudiantes sin control. La escuela, seguramente, saldrá de esta y superará la difícil situación por la que atraviesa, pero mutó y ya no nunca más volverá a ser la misma.

Nadie preparó a las secuelas y los efectos postpandemia que traería el retorno presencial a clases. Mientras las autoridades entrantes y salientes pusieron el foco en la normalización institucional de los establecimientos educacionales y la recuperación de aprendizajes, el resguardo socioemocional de las comunidades educativas y los problemas de convivencia se tomaron la agenda en la institución normalizadora por excelencia.
En una escuela de una comuna del secano costero de la región de O’Higgins, cuando se tocaba la campana para regresar a clases “los niños se ponían a llorar”, cuenta la directora del establecimiento. “Tuvimos que dejar de tocarla porque el llanterío era insoportable”. A ese mismo colegio, asiste un niño que es el décimo hijo de una familia muy vulnerable y donde, se cree, hay microtráfico de drogas. El chico en cuestión, es un verdadero dolor de cabeza para las profesionales que allí trabajan ya que, al entorno vulnerable del cual procede, se agregan los efectos de la pospandemia y la ausencia de la escuela como espacio formativo y socializador. El alumno, que tiene ataques de ira incontrolables, hace unos días atrás, en uno de esos episodios, amenazó a una docente con un gesto inconfundible: mirándola a los ojos se puso la palma de la mano en su cuello y gesticuló como que le iba a cortar la cabeza. En una escuela muy vulnerable de San Fernando, cuenta un profesional de la educación que: “los chiquillos corren como gatos durante los recreos yendo, sin parar, de un lado a otro”. En un liceo, donde ya hubo un suicidio, los intentos por repetir este acto dramático han vuelto a ocurrir, afortunadamente, sin éxito. En otro liceo urbano de la capital de Colchagua, en un día, se produjeron cinco “eventos” por parte de alumnos, incluyendo otro intento de suicidio.
Pero no son solo los estudiantes quienes tienen dificultades, los equipos directivos también están colapsados y reclaman que “quién cuida a los cuidadores”, en particular cuando docentes ya, tempranamente, en marzo evidenciaban síntomas de estrés y cansancio. De hecho, las licencias por ese motivo están a la orden del día, y ya no se encuentran profesores de reemplazo. El asunto es tan crítico que el reciente decreto 302 del Mineduc, sobre flexibilización de la jornada escolar, abrió la puerta para no docentes, siempre y cuando tengan “idoneidad” para trabajar con niños. En variadas ocasiones, los equipos directivos han tenido que paralizar las actividades curriculares para dedicar tiempo a la contención emocional, antes de que caiga la gota que rebalse el vaso de la paciencia de los profesores.
También el retorno presencial, en el contexto de una sociedad, que, desde el estallido social en adelante, se ha caracterizado por el cada vez más uso masivo de la violencia como recurso, trajo padres más empoderados y complejos. No solo les han perdido el respeto a los docentes, sino también a equipos directivos. No hace mucho, en otra comuna de la región, mientras una jefa técnica atendía a un asesor se presentó una apoderada. La autoridad educativa se levantó de la reunión y le preguntó: ¿qué se le ofrece?”, recibiendo por respuesta: “¿Y ahora me venís a atender?”
Eventos, episodios y situaciones emergentes: ¿de quién es la responsabilidad?
Profesionales de la educación sostienen que la pandemia trajo efectos y daños colaterales que no habían sido previstos por la autoridad al momento de decretar el retorno presencial a clases. Lo que ellos denominan el síndrome postpandemia, con alumnos y apoderados descontrolados, equipos directivos y funcionarios de los establecimientos colapsados, ya se hizo evidente durante la primera semana de clases: con estudiantes introvertidos y callados en los primeros niveles; más agresivos y desafiantes en enseñanza media; con apoderados más complejos y empoderados; con equipos directivos, docentes y funcionarios de las escuelas, quienes no estaban preparados para atender los desafíos que trajo consigo el retorno presencial que, muchos estiman, debió haberse concretado de manera gradual y paulatina, pero que comenzó a hacer estragos desde marzo.
A su vez, los alumnos, en especial en los espacios donde se les ha permitido dar a conocer su opinión, como la jornada nacional por una educación inclusiva del pasado 19 de abril, también han señalado que los docentes no han estado a la altura de los problemas que hoy enfrentan los estudiantes. Reiteran que en los establecimientos prima una concepción adulto-centrista de la pedagogía, y la convivencia de la cual son víctimas sus estudiantes, pues todas las decisiones significativas se toman desde la óptica de los adultos sin considerar la opinión de sus alumnos.
Algunos apoderados, también se quejan de que tanto docentes como equipos directivos no entienden, al momento de tomar decisiones sobre sus hijos, las dificultades que hoy enfrentan las familias. En especial las más vulnerables y critican que, pese a la flexibilización decretada, se desentienden de atender casos especiales de alumnos con agorafobia, que no quieren asistir a clases presenciales aún, o que no tienen ni quieren tener un plan b para aquellos estudiantes que, por diversos motivos, no pueden asistir físicamente.
Ni hablar de los inspectores de patio que, a estas alturas, ya casi se desentienden de los líos de convivencia que se generan en los recreos porque señalan: “están colapsados y no han sido preparados para atender este tipo de situaciones críticas”.
Epílogo: La escuela pospandemia y el giro de tuercas de su sello
Las escuelas y liceos han enfrentado tres grandes problemas al momento de concretarse el retorno presencial a clases: el rezago de los aprendizajes con alumnos que están bajo el nivel mínimo del curso al que asisten y que perdieron elementos básicos, como leer comprensivamente incluso las tablas de multiplicar. En muchos cursos, en especial 3° básico y 1° medio, los docentes han tenido que retroceder dos cursos atrás para nivelar aprendizajes y, cuando estaban en ello, empezaron a explotar los síndromes de “los niños de cristal” y de estudiantes hiperactivos. Por ello, hubo que dar un giro en la escuela desde lo pedagógico a lo socioemocional, que es el segundo gran problema, hoy central en la escuela, con comunidades educativas tempranamente agotadas y colapsadas por todos los desafíos que plantea atender a alumnos que no tuvieron, durante los dos últimos años, procesos formativos o de socialización, y que perdieron las más mínimas reglas de disciplinamiento social. Como contraparte, docentes que estuvieron con trabajo virtual, y que esperaban encontrarse con los mismos alumnos que dejaron de ver la primera semana de marzo de 2020 y que, además, no tienen las habilidades para trabajar con un nuevo tipo de estudiante.
Por último, la violencia social, que nos sacude con mucha mayor fuerza desde octubre de 2019, ha dejado su impronta no solo en las carreteras con autos locos, aumento de la delincuencia y la violencia, sino también que esta se ha trasladado a la institución escolar, y se manifiesta con apoderados más agresivos y estudiantes sin control.
La escuela, seguramente, saldrá de esta y superará la difícil situación por la que atraviesa, pero mutó y ya no nunca más volverá a ser la misma. Hay que ir pensando y escribiendo sobre la escuela que se nos viene. No puede ocurrir que, como pasó con el retorno presencial, la realidad nos pase por al lado, mientras miramos impávidos lo que sucede.

Nuestra Escuela (540 Estudiantes desde prekinder a 4° medio, localizada en una localidad rural de la región) presenta similitudes y diferencias con lo descrito. Nuestro retorno, planificado comenzo desde agosto del 21, partiendo con los mas grandes hasta rematar con pk y manteniendo una modalidad híbrida. El tema central fue administrar una presion por volver, q era creciente entre Estudiantes y familias, sin pasar a llevar los aforos prescritos x la autoridad y manteniendo condiciones de seguridad. A partir de marzo, retorno fue masivo (mantenemos entre un 85 y un 95% de asistencia diaria) ¿Cuales son nuestras similitudes con lo descrito? Retrazo pedagogico. Conocimientos y habilidades bajo lo esperable y necesario para esa edad y nivel de escolaridad, lo q dificulta la progresion. En lo actitudinal, un retroceso en la autonomía (la intervencion bienintencionada de adultos en trabajo escolar de hijas e hijos, mientras estuvieron en casa, fue mas allá de lo recomendable). No percibimos «ganas de no aprender» (lo q seria contra natura en la especie humana) Se percibe q integrar nuevos conocimientos y habilidades será un proceso más largo y complejo al partir de mas atrás. Hemos adecuado tiempos de trabajo (antes q lo propusieran desde el ministerio ) se acortó tiempo en la sala y se alargaron recreos. La Escuela completa va al «patio» (afortunadamente si algo hay de sobra en la Escuela, es espacio). Ahi tambien se pueden empujar nuevos aprendizajes. Resultado: mejor interacción entre Escolares y adultos, entre Escolares y, entre adultos. La cooperacion aumenta y se hace mas eficiente. Tenemos licencias x embarazos y enfermedades no mentales. Nadie enfrenta estrés o deoresiones. ¿Hay problemas de convivencia? Por cierto. El uso del telefono inteligente es uno de ellos. Competir con sus atractivos, no es simple. Manifestamos una adicción q nos incluye a las y los adultos ¿podemos esperar un comoirtamiento diferente de niñas, niños y adolescente? Si este no se integra al proceso de enseñanza aorendizaje, lo perturba y perturba la convivencia en la sala. Disculpa lo largo de este posteo. Pero articulo me estimuló a compartir experiencia.
