“Si estoy en tu memoria, soy parte de la historia”. Así reza el mensaje que, en estos días, hemos estado recibiendo y que ya lleva 15.000 firmas. La Cámara de Diputados rechazó, en la ley de presupuesto, el financiamiento para el Museo de la Memoria, lo que, como Asociación Nacional de Mujeres Periodistas, nos parece inconcebible.

“Desde el retorno de la democracia, ha habido un trabajo doloroso y continuo por establecer la verdad y hacer justicia”, señaló Paula Escobar en su reciente columna. “Chile avanzaba en un consenso sobre un mínimo civilizatorio”, escribió a su vez Daniel Matamala, “y lo afirmó creando instituciones como el Museo de la Memoria, con un directorio transversal”. Hoy preside el directorio de este espacio, que se llena de gente cada día, buscando rendir tributo a las víctimas de la dictadura, la periodista Marcia Scantlebury, quien presidió el trabajo de investigación que se realizó durante años para construirlo, seleccionar sus contenidos y ponerlo en marcha. Acompañé a Marcia en parte de su largo peregrinar por los museos de la memoria de distintos países de mundo, de Uruguay a Sudáfrica, de Alemania a Estados Unidos. Todavía tengo en la retina de los ojos la instalación y el profundo sentimiento que embargaba el Museo de los Derechos Humanos de Sudáfrica. Le agradezco hasta el día de hoy haberme invitado a ese recorrido.
