El programa, en el que universitarios que cursan carreras de educación apoyan a escolares de establecimientos educacionales de financiamiento estatal, es parte de la política de reactivación del Mineduc y, a nivel local, se ejecuta en conjunto con la Universidad O´Higgins.

Es jueves y tres alumnos de la carrera de Pedagogía en Educación General Básica mención Matemática de la Universidad de O´Higgins se dirigen, no a esta casa de estudios, sino que a Rengo. Como ha ocurrido cada jueves desde el 27 de octubre, en la Escuela La Isla Emma Escobar de Lagos de esta comuna los esperan alumnos y alumnas para recibir una atención pedagógica directa, gracias al programa Tutorías Seamos Comunidad que Acompaña y Apoya, que es parte de la política de reactivación educativa integral del Mineduc y contempla un plan nacional, el que, a nivel local, se desarrolla en conjunto con la Universidad de O’Higgins.
Durante 90 minutos los universitarios, que se encuentran realizando su práctica profesional II, se focalizan en tres estudiantes cada uno, quienes fueron seleccionados previamente por el establecimiento educacional y cuentan con la previa autorización de sus apoderados.
Las tutorías se ejecutan en la biblioteca del Centro de Recursos para el Aprendizaje (CRA), y abarcan específicamente la asignatura de matemáticas, utilizando material didáctico e impreso, con lineamientos, de los ejes temáticos a trabajar, consensuados previamente con las profesoras de matemáticas de cada curso.
Para destacar la importancia de este plan se realizó una ceremonia en este recinto, en la cual participaron la jefa provincial de Educación, Andrea Maldonado, el jefe UTP del Departamento de Educación de la comuna de Rengo, Jaime Hernández, la directora de la escuela, Leticia Cornejo, la jefa UTP de la escuela, Patricia Díaz, profesores, asistentes de la educación, además de los protagonistas del programa: estudiantes del 6° año básico y los universitarios tutores de la Universidad O’Higgins, José Miguel Jaña, Camila Leviqueo e Isidora Galleguillos.
En dicha instancia se realizó una muestra teatral de un poema “El ciclo de la vida”, donde se dio realce al espíritu del Programa de Tutorías; los estudiantes participantes del taller de teatro, demostraron en su actuación que todos debemos aprender de otros y la importancia de tener ayuda de un mediador, quien se preocupa de desarrollar las habilidades del estudiante de manera personalizada.
Para la coordinadora regional de la política Seamos Comunidad del Mineduc, Andrea Maldonado, la relevancia de este Programa de Tutorías “Seamos Comunidad” radica en que: “se está beneficiando directamente a las y los estudiantes, con un apoyo adicional para sus aprendizajes, logrando que eleven su autoestima, mejoren su autopercepción y su propia valoración ante los demás, lo que les ayuda a relacionarse de mejor manera con sus pares y por supuesto a un desarrollo integral” cerró Maldonado.
En la región el programa “Seamos Comunidad que Acompaña y Apoya” abarca en una primera instancia a establecimientos educacionales de las comunas de Rengo, Rancagua, Machalí y Olivar, cobertura que se irá ampliando en un futuro próximo.
