Reconocimiento a 15 destacadas académicas e investigadoras en Chile

Se celebró el sexto aniversario de la Asociación Red de Investigadoras, que nace en la región de O’Higgins y que hoy cuenta con más de 160 socias entre Arica y Puerto Natales. Esta organización sin fines de lucro nace con el propósito de visibilizar mujeres haciendo investigación en todas las áreas del conocimiento y mostrar las barreras que tienen en la academia para desarrollar sus carreras profesionales.

Adriana Bastías

Este 24 y 25 de septiembre, en la ciudad de Olmué, se celebró el sexto aniversario de la Asociación Red de Investigadoras, que nace en la región de O’Higgins y que hoy cuenta con más de 160 socias entre Arica y Puerto Natales. Esta organización sin fines de lucro nace con el propósito de visibilizar mujeres haciendo investigación en todas las áreas del conocimiento y mostrar las barreras que tienen en la academia para desarrollar sus carreras profesionales. En esta oportunidad, para reconocer el aporte a la investigación que hacen académicas e investigadoras chilenas pertenecientes a la organización se premiaron a 3 socias destacadas en 5 categorías: trayectoria, liderazgo, aporte a las políticas públicas, aporte a la comunicación de conocimientos y aporte al conocimiento. Las nominaciones y las premiadas fueron realizadas por las mismas socias de la Red de Investigadoras, convirtiéndose en un reconocimiento entre pares que valoran el trabajo y esfuerzo de otras colegas.

En la categoría “trayectoria”, las premiadas fueron Gloria Montenegro, Marianela Denegri y Eliana Barrios.

Gloria Montenegro Rizzardini es académica de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), bióloga y botánica que ha dedicado su vida a buscar el valor agregado a la flora nativa chilena; su investigación ha derivado en ell estudio de la miel y sus propiedades. Fue la primera mujer latinoamericana en ser premiada con el Premio L’Oreal Unesco (1998), además de obtener un gran número de reconocimientos como el entregado por INAPI (Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial) por sus numerosas patentes, y aporte a la investigación aplicada.

Marianela Denegri Coria es académica de la Universidad de la Frontera (UFRO), sicóloga e investigadora en sicología económica, doctora en sicología de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (España). Actualmente es directora del Núcleo Científico y Tecnológico en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de la UFRO. Ha desarrollado estudios y herramientas para la educación financiera a nivel nacional e internacional. Ha sido reconocida en varias ocasiones, entre las cuales se destaca Mujer Promesa Regional, Sernam (2002) y la Medalla a la trayectoria académica destacada de la Universidad de la Frontera (2017).

Eliana BarriosFuentes es académica de la Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez, profesora de inglés de la Universidad Católica, antropóloga de la Universidad Austral de Chile, y doctora en ciencias sociales de la Universidad de Zaragoza (España), de amplia trayectoria se ha desempeñado en varias instituciones universitarias destacando sus estudios etnográficos asociados a la educación chilena.

En la categoría “liderazgo”, las premiadas fueron Marlene Rosales, Natacha Pino y Ximena Báez.

Marlene Rosales Villavicencio es académica de la Universidad Católica de Chile, bioquímica de la Universidad de Chile y viróloga vegetal; desde el año 2017 se desempeña como directora de investigación y postgrado de la Facultad de Agronomía e Ingeniería Forestal. Realizó su doctorado en la Universidad de Florida (Estados Unidos) en el área de fitopatología. Es parte de la Sociedad Chilena de Fitopatología, Sociedad Americana de Fitopatología, “International Society for Plant Pathology, Sociedad Americana de Fitopatología y la Asociación de Biología Vegetal Chile.

Natacha Pino Acuña es rectora de la Universidad de Aysén, ingeniera civil industrial de la Universidad de la Frontera, magíster de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (España), donde es doctoranda. En septiembre del año 2019, se convirtió en la primera mujer electa rectora por sus pares en una universidad chilena. Es vicepresidenta de la Agrupación de Universidades Regionales (AUR), siendo la primera mujer en conformar parte del directorio. Desde 2021 es rectora encargada de la Comisión de Igualdad de Género del Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas (CRUCH).

Ximena Báez Matus es bioquímica de Universidad Austral de Chile, magister en Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad de Valparaíso y doctoranda en biotecnología de la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María y Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Fue vice-presidenta de Ciencia con Contrato. Fue presidenta de la Asociación de Investigadores de Postgrado (2021-2022), siendo reelecta para el periodo 2022-2023. Es consejera y presidenta del Consejo de la Sociedad Civil de la Subsecretaría del Ministerio de Ciencia.

En la categoría “aporte a las políticas públicas”, quienes recibieron el reconocimiento fueron: Carolina Rojas, Mónica Vargas y Cristina Dorador.

Carolina Rojas Quezada es académica de la Universidad Católica de Chile, geógrafa de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, master y doctora de la Universidad de Alcalá (España). Se desempeñó como académica en la Universidad de Concepción (2009-2018). Su investigación ha tratado sobre desarrollo urbano, estudiando su interacción con los humedales. Este trabajo ha sido importante para la conformación de la Red Ciudadana Nacional de Humedales y la redacción de la ley que protege los humedales urbanos chilenos.

Mónica Vargas Aguirre se desempeña en la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, essocióloga de la Universidad de Chile y trabajadora social de la Universidad de Valparaíso, magíster en asentamientos humanos y medio ambiente por la PUC, magíster en ciencia política Universidad de Academia de Humanismo Cristiano, doctora en ciencias sociales de la Universidad de Chile, ex presidenta del Colegio de Sociólogos y ex presidenta de la Federación de Colegios Profesionales. Su aporte a las políticas públicas ha sido en la tramitación de la ley 21369, que previene y sanciona el acoso sexual, la discriminación y la violencia de género en educación superior, además de apoyar el avance de la ley de los colegios profesionales.

Cristina Dorador Ortiz, académica de la Universidad de Antofagasta, bióloga de la Universidad de Chile, doctora en ciencias naturales con mención en microbiología en la Universidad de Kiel y el Instituto Max Planck (Alemania). Su área de investigación se relaciona a ecosistemas microbianos en salares altiplánicos del norte de Chile. Ha recibido varios reconocimientos como: ser elegida como una de las 100 mujeres líderes en Chile (2017), un laboratorio lleva su nombre en el liceo Radomiro Tomic en Calama y una nueva especie Percolomonas doradorae, aislada en el Salar de Atacama, también fue nombrada en su honor. El año 2021, fue electa como una de las 155 personas que participó en la Convención Constitucional, escribiendo una propuesta de nueva Constitución para el país. Mientras que en la categoría “aporte a la comunicación del conocimiento” las premiadas fueron: Lorena Valderrama, Florencia Tevy y Carla Hernández.

Lorena Valderrama, académica de la Universidad de Santiago, periodista de la Universidad de Chile, doctora en Historia de la Ciencia y Comunicación Científica de la Universidad de Valencia (España). Se ha especializado en la investigación sobre ciencia y la tecnología durante los siglos XIX y XX, principalmente en la función de las instituciones públicas y los medios de comunicación en la construcción del riesgo. Autora del libro Todos los temblores, después del terremoto: configurar la experticia en un país sísmico y coautora, junto a Verónica Ramírez, de Lo que auguran los astros: espectáculos, maravillas y catástrofes.

Florencia Tevy, genetista de la Universidad Nacional de Misiones (Argentina), doctora en bioquímica de la Universidad de Bolonia (Italia), CEO de la compañía GEDIS Biotech (Genomic Engeenering, Design and Innovative Solutions in Biotech). Electa como la súper ciudadana de la segunda temporada del programa Súper Ciudadanos de Súbela Radio por su aporte en información y divulgación científica sobre la situación de la pandemia.

Carla Hernández, académica de la Universidad de Santiago (USACH), profesora de física de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, doctora en didáctica de la matemática y de las ciencias experimentales de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, actualmente se desempeña como directora de vinculación con el medio de la Facultad de Ciencia de la USACH. Fue reconocida en el año 2020 por sus aportes a la divulgación de las ciencias como una de las 100 Mujeres Líderes de Chile (organizado por Mujeres Empresarias y el diario El Mercurio), y con el premio a la excelencia en vinculación con el medio otorgado por la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Autora del libro: ¿Qué hacen las científicas? Actividades increíbles para aprender acerca de la ciencia. Finalmente, en la categoría “aporte al conocimiento”, quienes recibieron un reconocimiento fueron: Ana Luisa Muñoz, Barbarita Lara y Marcela Ruiz.

Ana Luisa Muñoz García, académica de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), profesora de historia, geografía y educación cívica de la Universidad de la Frontera, magíster en ciencias de educación de la PUC, doctora en cultura educativa, política y sociedad de la State University of New York (Estados Unidos). Es editora ejecutiva de la Revista Pensamiento Educativo (PEL),​ editora asociada de la Revista Gender and Education, y expresidenta de la Red Chilena de Investigación en Educación Chilena (2018-2020). Su investigación es sobre educación y construcción del conocimiento en la academia, en el marco de las políticas de género y de internalización, destacando su aporte sobre los protocolos de acoso sexual en las universidades chilenas y la discusión parlamentaria de la ley 21.369.

Barbarita Lara Martínez, directora general y fundadora de la compañía EMERCOM, innovadora social e ingeniera de ejecución en informática de la Universidad Federico Santa María. Ideó una aplicación para teléfonos celulares, llamada SIE (Sistema de Información de Emergencia) que entrega información en lugares que sufran una emergencia como un terremoto. Ha recibido múltiples reconocimientos como el primer lugar en el programa lideres en innovación de la Real Academia de Ingenieros de Reino Unido, ser uno de los 5 innovadores más importantes de Latinoamérica según el Instituto tecnológico del Massachusets (MIT), y ser la primera chilena en ser destacada como uno de los innovadores sub35 por el MIT premiada por INAPI (2019) etc.

Marcela Ruiz Aguilar, directora en Acústica Marina SpA, empresa dedicada a las soluciones relacionadas a investigación, desarrollo e innovación en el área de la hidroacústica. Es bióloga marina de la Universidad Austral de Chile y magíster en gestión estratégica y evaluación de proyectos. Es vice-presidenta de la Asociación State Alumni Chile (SACH), red de becarios del gobierno de los Estados Unidos. En el año 2021, junto al equipo de Acústica Marina, obtiene el primer lugar del Desafío Avante, primer encuentro de innovación abierta de la Armada de Chile.

Además, en esta jornada de aniversario, se realizaron talleres y actividades de autoformación organizados por Mónica Vargas (Usach), Carla Hernández (Usach), Patricia Peña (UCh) y Mirliana Ramírez (UCh).
