“Somos Encuentro”, nueva campaña por la inclusión y respeto de las personas refugiadas y migrantes en Chile
En el siguiente comunicado, se nos informa sobre esta importante campaña de concientización para evitar la estigmatización de los inmigrantes en Chile. En el contexto de un aumento de 20 veces el número de inmigrantes ilegales en los últimos cuatro años, es importante diferenciar a aquellos que son refugiados y que legítimamente emigran para huir de la situación de sus países de origen.
Equipo de prensa campaña Somos Encuentro
Es una iniciativa de la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) y la agencia de la ONU para los refugiados (ACNUR), en el marco de la Plataforma de Coordinación Interagencial para Refugiados y Migrantes de Venezuela (R4V), que promueve mensajes sobre la importancia de la diversidad e inclusión hacia las personas refugiadas y migrantes en el país, y que nace de dos preguntas: ¿qué nos une? y ¿qué es eso que nos hace vernos más humanos?
Durante los últimos cinco años, América Latina y el Caribe han sido escenario de un desplazamiento humano sin precedentes, constituido principalmente por personas venezolanas que dejaron su país a raíz de la agravada situación política y socioeconómica para establecerse en otros países de la región. Según la última estimación del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas INE y Servicio Nacional de Migraciones (anteriormente DEM), hasta diciembre 2020, en Chile residían más de 448 mil personas venezolanas[1] [2]. A su vez, de acuerdo con las estimaciones poblacionales de R4V, Chile es el cuarto país de acogida a nivel regional[3].
Con este escenario, la movilidad humana presenta una gran oportunidad para el desarrollo de los países, pero también un desafío para la sociedad en su conjunto pues pone a prueba el tejido social de las comunidades receptoras. En este sentido, durante el último año, se ha evidenciado un incremento respecto a las manifestaciones de xenofobia y episodios de violencia hacia personas refugiadas y migrantes en el país, los que, en ocasiones, pueden ser potenciados por la desinformación, circulación de discursos tendenciosos o fake news.
En este sentido, la carencia de información oportuna y basada en datos en torno a las distintas temáticas referentes a la movilidad humana, indica un llamado de alerta al que atender.
La Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) y la agencia de la ONU para los refugiados (ACNUR), en el marco de la Plataforma R4V, tienen como tarea trabajar para generar espacios de prevención de la xenofobia y la discriminación, así como fomentar el diálogo y el reconocimiento intercultural.
Bajo el nombre Somos Encuentro, esta campaña digital busca rescatar y destacar historias de inclusión, intercambio cultural y diálogo comunitario que fomenten lazos de empatía y solidaridad entre las personas, además de promover, conductas, actitudes y acciones en línea con la no discriminación.
Richard Velázquez, Jefe de Misión de OIM Chile indicó que: “Este esfuerzo comunicacional busca promover mensajes claros sobre la importancia de la tolerancia y el respeto por la diversidad para lograr comunidades más fuertes y, por otro lado, entregar informaciones precisas y datos sobre las migraciones para así desmitificar ciertas percepciones que la sociedad tiene sobre esta”.
Rebeca Cenalmor, Jefa de Oficina Nacional del ACNUR en Chile, por su parte, señaló que: “Entendemos que las comunicaciones y las redes sociales tienen la responsabilidad ética de visibilizar los grandes desafíos a los que se enfrentan las personas de diversas nacionalidades al llegar a Chile, pero también, de contribuir a romper los estereotipos, la estigmatización, restringiendo las fake news, disminuir las actitudes discriminatorias que muchas veces sufren estas personas y propiciar la divulgación correcta de la información, y es, justamente, esto lo que este proyecto conjunto busca potenciar”.
La iniciativa busca mostrar historias reales, bajo conceptos clave como la diversidad, la inclusión y la comunidad, espera generar encuentro y crear un compromiso en torno a la no discriminación de las personas refugiadas y migrantes, sensibilizando acerca de la necesidad de frenar los estereotipos, los actos de violencia y la discriminación.
Asimismo, se hará énfasis en dignificar las vivencias o situaciones que viven distintas personas; chilenas, refugiadas y migrantes en nuestro país, dando espacio para reflexionar sobre los puntos que tenemos en común y relevando que las diferencias también son símbolo de unión.
Quienes quieran unirse a la campaña, conocer y compartir las historias, pueden ingresar a www.somosencuentro.cl, donde todas las personas tienen un lugar. Esta plataforma busca visibilizar testimonios reales y generar un espacio de encuentro de vivencias distintas, para así crear vínculos de solidaridad y empatía.
