La congestión que se produce en el peaje lateral de Los Lirios, en el ingreso sur de Rancagua, expone a riesgo de accidentes a centenares de automovilistas. Mientras la concesionaria no amplía casetas de peaje ni automatiza el cobro, llama la atención la ágil aplicación de los reajustes de tarifas de cada año.

El peaje lateral de los Lirios para ingresar a Rancagua –ex ruta 5 sur, hoy Travesía – fue incendiado varias veces en el contexto de la revuelta social de 2019. Muchos pensamos, sin justificarlo, que aquello se debió al abuso en los valores de los cobros por transitar a veces, solo algunos kilómetros, en un lugar donde no hay más alternativas de acceso a Rancagua desde el sur.
Desde hace varios meses, cuando la situación laboral tendió a normalizarse junto con los avances en la situación sanitaria y muchos profesionales que trabajan fuera de Rancagua comenzaron a retornar presencialmente a sus labores e impulsaron el uso de vehículos propios en alianza con otras personas en situación similar para salir y regresar a Rancagua. Ayudó en esta iniciativa la falta de buses y la búsqueda de espacios más seguros para prevenir el contagio.
La congestión vehicular que allí se producía en fines de semana largo o los viernes, hoy es el pan de cada día. La situación contrasta con el reajuste que están aplicando las concesionarias a sus cobros para el siguiente año; si bien Ruta del Maipo no aumentaría el monto de $ 700 por el mencionado acceso lateral, el peaje troncal llegaría a $2.900. Contraste que irrita, porque el uso del peaje de Los Lirios alcanza ribetes dramáticos no solo por los tiempos de espera, sino porque no se han abierto nuevas casetas de cobros manuales y la plaza continúa con los tres peajes originales que no siempre funcionan plenamente y entre los cuales uno solo está destinado a Tag. Todo ello hace que por las tardes, la espera allí sea infernal, con vehículos en largas filas que se colocan en la berma de la 5 sur para ingresar al peaje. No es solo el colapso vial que se genera, sino también la exposición a un riesgo grave, puesto que a menos de un metro de los vehículos que esperan pasan camiones gigantescos que van por la autopista, lo que previsiblemente podría ocasionar accidentes serios.
Llama la atención que luego ya de casi 20 años, la concesionaria tampoco automatice los pagos.
El Regionalista intentó comunicarse con el área de Concesiones del Mop, la Seremi local y la propia concesionaria del Maipo, pero el esfuerzo y no obtuvimos respuesta de los call center que supuestamente están para responder al usuario.
¿Será que habrá que esperar un grave accidente allí para que las autoridades fuercen la ampliación de las casetas o automaticen los pagos?
