Año a año, en Navidad y Año Nuevo las personas autistas están en el oído de muchos, pero no porque la comunidad se ocupe de ellas especialmente, sino porque padecen intensamente los efectos del estruendo de los fuegos artificiales.
Por razones económicas, por falta de empatía o por no querer innovar, la mayor parte de las instituciones que realizan celebraciones con fuegos de artificio no se preocupan de este segmento de la población y organizan el mismo despliegue ruidoso de cada año.
Y no es una situación que solo afecte a los niños autistas. La Organización Mundial de la Salud recomienda no exponerse a más de 140 decibeles de ruido en adultos y 120 en niños, pero los fuegos artificiales pueden llegar a los 190.
Por esta razón la Fundación Unión Autismo y Neurodiversidad, la Federación Nacional de autismo y la Mesa Interregional Ley de Autismo, llamaron a las autoridades a legislar urgentemente, de forma que las celebraciones de fiestas como las que vienen, sean realizadas con fuegos sin estruendo, fomentando el uso de luces y drones. Para las mencionadas organizaciones es un deber de una comunidad que incluye la promoción de fiestas en las que todos tengan espacio, lo que no sucede hoy, puesto que son “insoportables para muchas personas de la comunidad autista”.
Las organizaciones urgieron a las autoridades a que regulen en este ámbito, imitando a países de Europa y Argentina, que ya lo han hecho, con el impacto positivo que tendría, evitando la contaminación sonora y los daños físicos y materiales que implica la pirotecnia sin límites legales.
