Aparte de ese viaje a la luna, nuestro firme intelecto indicaba que los botes flotaban, que la madera podía mantenerse en la superficie y el fierro se hundía y tuvimos que aceptar en nuestro imaginario que un “bote” sí podía moverse bajo el mar, aunque fuera de fierro. Para verlo ahora, eso sí, se necesita una gran cuota de ingenuidad comparado con Das Boot (Wolfgang Petersen, 1981), y sí quieren lo intentan en 20.000 leguas de viaje submarino (Richard Fleischer, 1954).
Hoy, en todo caso, ya no se habla con tanta claridad sobre el tema. Hoy irrumpe con más fuerza Isaac Asimov, prueba de ello es Yo Robot (Alex Proyas, 2004).
Se va dividiendo el concepto sobre la exploración o visitas de otros mundos y sobre lo que le espera a la humanidad.
A Cyrano de Bergerac (siglo XVII) le bastó sólo un antifaz para, cayendo de un árbol, persuadir a sus enemigos de lo perdido que estaba, pues él venía de la Luna; eso lo pueden ver en la película homónima versión 1990 (Jean-Paul Rappeneau).
Intento no desviarme del tema, pero ante la nula prueba de los extraterrestres (dice José Maza que no se ha encontrado ni un puto galáctico perno), la imaginación reina, como sucedió en La guerra de los mundos producción radial emitida en 1938 por Orson Welles y recreada en Días de Radio (Woody Allen, 1987), enredo que partió mucho antes con la novela homónima (1898) del novelista H.G. Wells.
Trataremos de acotar la incertidumbre, respondiendo una pregunta para este subgénero (“extraterrestres”): ¿cómo nos comunicaremos con ellos? No es mala la interrogante para dar luz a una parte del tema.
Aunque aquí se trata de ser serios, nos vamos a licenciar un poco, mencionando a E.T. (Steven Spielberg, 1982); según esta producción nos comunicaremos con ellos con amor y ternura… puede ser. Los parcos, los mala leche, los egoístas, los sucios de corazón jodieron, para ellos puente cortado (huichichío).
Otros dicen que nos comunicaremos con ellos a través de la música, no hay otra forma, así de simple, lo que de ridículo no tiene nada pues la música de Bach, Stravinski, Beethoven y Mozart, junto a otras expresiones musicales, llevan 45 años viajando en las Voyager, buscando una oreja solidaria y solitaria, esto ya en los límites o fuera de nuestro sistema solar, así que vayan preparándose muchachos y muchachas, no nos vayan a dejar fuera por desafinados: Encuentros cercanos del Tercer Tipo (Steven Spielberg, 1977).
Sin son malos para cantar y les gusta el dibujo y la pintura como Jackson Pollock, tienen muchas posibilidades en La llegada (Denis Villeneuve, 2006).
La última posibilidad son los números y ahí Carl Sagan nos dijo en su novela Contact que“las matemáticas son el lenguaje del universo”. Por eso, si tú sabes que dos más dos son cuatro, calificas y puedes ver sin contratiempos el film del mismo nombre (Robert Zemeckis, 1997).
Si consideran estas cintas como un juego de niños, suban de nivel y quémense la cabeza con Solaris (Andrey Tarkovsky,1972). Ahí te quiero ver, papi.
El otro sub género (“adelantamiento”), parte sin duda con Odisea 2001 (Stanley Kubrick, 1968), en la que se visualiza nuestra relación y comportamiento con la potente Inteligencia Artificial y el guiño a los bucles del tiempo.
Luego una sociedad que no distingue lo real de lo onírico, que transita a todo lo que da la máquina, estados represivos y auto represivos y ritmo a toda vela, se traza en Brazil, la película (Terry Gilliam, 1985).
En el espacio hay una fuerza antivida, se nutre de la muerte. Le gusta el odio, la envidia y la avaricia y viene por nosotros… ¿Quién podrá defendernos? El Quinto elemento (Luc Besson, 1997).
